Downtown arts support

Young couple looks on to the Rousse installation at Baldwin

Artist-in-residence

Greenfire always makes at least one of our downtown living spaces available to an artist for reduced rent. This enables the artist to focus on his or her art and to enrich the downtown community in the process. It’s rare for a private, for-profit company to sponsor an artist in residence – usually only governments make such an investment.

There are no current openings in this program at the moment, but we envision expanding it as our company grows, and we are open to artists working in all media. Check back soon!

Temporary performance and exhibition space

Greenfire Development donates vacant space in its buildings to performers and visual artists. Perhaps most notably, the internationally renowned French artist Georges Rousse created “trompe l’oiel” or fool-the-eye, installations in the Baldwin Building. We also make our storefront windows available for visual arts displays and support the twice-yearly Durham Art Walk, when we host artists to show their work in our space.
